Highlights:

UPatch HD 1.2 - Release 4 (02/2024)
New update for UPatch HD - the unofficial patch for Age of Empires 1: The Rise of Rome.
This is a minor update. For information on the previous big update (10th anniversary) - check this article.
What's new in this release:
- Introducing "UPatch Improved AI" mod by gestremd - reworked AI strategies in Death Match and Random Map games in order to support the maximum population limit in Single Player. Now part of the included mods in UPatch. You can enable it from the Mod Manager (Note: This mod is still experimental and not extensively tested).
- Fixed ai for Babylonian, Choson and Greek - they now use the correct Market/Storage Pit/Dock technologies (balance mods included in UPatch also updated).
- Fixed a crash occurring in the Editor with mods using custom building icons.
To update, just download the new release and install over your existing one (it doesn't matter if it's 1.1 or 1.2).

Is it possible that something like this could be made for AoE2? I've been using it for some years and find it the ideal way to play the first game, but none of the second game's releases come close in design. I have never been part of the AoE2 modding community so I wouldn't know where to look for this information.

There is the UserPatch for AOE2 but there is also AOE2: Definitive Edition (Steam and Windows Store), which is the official remaster of the game.

Hello, is there anyway you could add an alternative download without the original game soundtrack, or perhaps there is any easy way for me to remove it? I started playing UPatch in 2018 when I was barely a teenager, all I've ever known is the Rise of Rome soundtrack.
I know a lot of people definitely appreciate it, but it just feels so weird and jarring to start a game without hearing Tangon Alpha Bravo.

You can rename the files under the \sound directory. "xmusic1.mp3" is the original AOE soundtrack, "xmusic2.mp3" is the ROR one (the one you want to hear). So delete or move the first one and then rename "xmusic2.mp3" to "xmusic1.mp3". Notice that you need to rename the mp3 files, not the .mid files (also present in the same directory with the same names).

Please, would it be possible to add to Upatch the ability to change only the resolution, or keep the possibility of better AI and playing trial versions? Otherwise, all other improvements could be refused? But it would be enough if there was just an option to just change the resolution and otherwise not change anything compared to the version on the DVD. Thank you very much and praise you for your great work.

You can just use the included Old Balance mods, which restore the balance to what it was in the original game (either v1.0 or v1.0A) while keeping all other enhancements. They are installed with the patch and can be found in the Launcher - Mod Manager.

Im from Viet Nam. Many of us have tried the 1.0 Mod, but the farm bug didnt work. Can you create a Mod/Version with farm bug like the original ROR 1.0 from 1998, please. We are a big community in Viet Nam, we really like to have your Version with the farm bug.

Hi. Unfortunately the farm bug is not part of the base for this patch (this patch is based on ROR 1.0A, not 1.0), so I can't really bring it back. But you can try the mod with balance from 1.0 and unlimited farm food (included in UPatch). That's the best I can do.
